Housing and Facilities Information

1. Housing

Housing will be provided for in on campus housing, Magnolia Apartments. These apartments are within walking distance of all the buildings that will house the REU.
Magnolia apartment consists two different types of apartments: 3 bedrooms with 1 bathroom, or 4 bedrooms with 2 bathrooms. Each bedroom is equipped with a single bed, desk, chair, small dresser, and closet. Please notice that a mattress and a mattress pad are provided, but no linens. The living/dinning room contains a couch, one chair, and two barstools, and a full kitchen in every apartment. However, no silverware is provided.
Cable TV
Students living in Magnolia will enjoy cable TV service at no additional charge. Campus residents have access to 53 channels, including MTV, ESPN, the major networks, a residence hall movie channel, and the Residence Services Network-a video bulletin board which keeps students up to date on campus events. Be aware that no TV set is provided.
Computer Labs
A computer lab for all resident students, complete with word processing, spread sheet, and internet browser software will be located in the Magnolia Complex.
Computer Connections
Ethernet connections for access to the Internet and University computing services are provided in all student rooms. There is no additional charge for the Ethernet/Internet access.
Telephone
Local phone service is provided in each bedroom at no additional charge. Students provide their own telephones; information about long distance calling services is provided in the room assignment package.
Mail
Mail is delivered to each resident's mail box in each of the three complexes Monday through Saturday with the exception of holidays. Each student or family will have their own mailbox. The mail format is as follows:

Laundry
A Laundry room is located in the Magnolia Community building, featuring coin operated washers and dryers, ironing boards, and folding tables.
On-campus Parking
Parking for Magnolia is conveniently located across the street from the apartment complex. All students who wish to have a car must register their vehicle with Parking Services and purchase a parking decal. Parking will not be provided by the REU Program.

2. Facilities

The Faculty Mentors will provide all the necessary supplies to perform the assigned activities. The individual laboratories are equipped with the necessary equipment for the student's research projects. Furthermore, students will have access to the USF Library, computing facilities, transportation, and recreational facilities.
